About Steven Domnitz, MD
Dr. Domnitz earned his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 1986 and completed his residency at New York Downtown Hospital. A pioneer in minimally invasive surgery in New Jersey, he performed his first laparoscopic hysterectomy in 1992—less than three years after the world’s first case.
Continuing to lead the way in minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Domnitz has been featured in television and newspaper stories for his groundbreaking work. He has even made appearances on TLC’s A Baby Story and Bravo’s Real Housewives of New Jersey. Despite these public recognitions, his down-to-earth approach and friendly bedside manner remain his defining qualities.
Passionate about education, Dr. Domnitz regularly lectures and trains fellow physicians in advanced surgical techniques. His expertise spans all areas of obstetrics and gynecology, with a special focus on treating endometriosis, fibroids, and abnormal bleeding. Over the years, he has held esteemed leadership roles at Chilton Medical Center, including Vice Chairman of the Foundation Board of Trustees, Medical-Dental Staff President, and Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Domnitz enjoys golf, traveling, and a variety of outdoor activities.
