My appt was made with another nurse (Emily Smith). I was called about a month or so indicating they needed to reschedule the appt. Rescheduled but they never told me why it needed to be rescheduled and that it would be with a different nurse. I didn’t realize Nancy would be doing the exam until we got started. I think it would have been courteous to indicate they had to switch nurses and specified a reason.

I saw Nancy Welsh at All About Women (DELAWARE) March 25. My visit was for a routine annual well woman exam. The visit started with the normal BP and weight. I undressed and got ready for the exam. Nancy entered the room and before she even looked at me or made eye contact, her first words after hello were " ohhhh your poor girl, your weight". This set the tone for the entire visit. Her remarks were unprofessional and unwarranted. She drew a conclusion based on a number on a piece of paper, without any context or conversation. I dont know what that number was nor do I care. I am a healthy 56 year old post menopausal woman with no known health markers that would require a comment on my weight. I go to the gym regularly and work with a qualified fitness and nutrition coach. If she asked I would have told her. Also if she had asked I would have let her know that l've recently lost a pound of fat and gained 2 pounds of muscle. As a medical professional she should understand that the number is data and many variables go into that overall number. That number does not tell you how much of my body is muscle, water or fat. It's just a number and fortunately that number doesn't have a whole lot of bearing on my happiness. I am healthy and active. I can run jump and play with my grandchildren. When my 8 year old granddaughter asks me to carry her, I can! THAT is what I base my happiness on, not a low number on a scale.
