A preconception checkup can help you:
- Ensure that you are taking prenatal vitamins and leading a healthy lifestyle, benefitting you and your baby throughout the pregnancy.
- Understand any personal risk factors you may have, including reviewing your medical history and your family history, especially related to potential genetic issues.
- Check that all immunizations are up to date and all prescribed and over-the-counter medications, as well as any supplements, are safe in pregnancy.
- Develop a plan to keep mother and baby healthy before, during and after your pregnancy.
As you progress through your pregnancy, Providers at Lifeline Medical Associates will:
- Monitor your health and your baby’s health.
- Help you identify, prevent and treat the symptoms often associated with pregnancy, including morning sickness, leg cramps and heartburn.
- Advise you on how to stay healthy with appropriate diet and safe, adequate exercise.
- Provide answers to your questions about pregnancy, delivery and postpartum.
Providers at Lifeline Medical Associates will also utilize their expertise and experience to manage pregnancy-related health concerns, including those associated with high-risk pregnancies and/or chronic illnesses.
Postpartum care will include:
- Routine postpartum care to help you with normal healing after delivery while caring for a newborn.
- Encouraging and supporting breastfeeding.
- Following up with you to detect and address any signs of postpartum depression.
- Continuing to monitor medical issues that may have occurred during the pregnancy, such as high blood pressure or gestational diabetes.
