Obstetrics

The “OB” in OB/GYN is about far more than delivering babies – it encompasses all of the counseling, support, diagnostics and treatment from the initial idea of becoming pregnant through prenatal care and delivery to postpartum care.

And Providers at Lifeline Medical Associates offer the highest quality prenatal and postpartum care, affording patients the greatest opportunity for a safe and successful pregnancy.

Find A Provider

This all begins well in advance of becoming pregnant – when just beginning to plan for pregnancy. Why should you see an obstetrician before becoming pregnant?

A preconception checkup can help you:

  • Ensure that you are taking prenatal vitamins and leading a healthy lifestyle, benefitting you and your baby throughout the pregnancy.
  • Understand any personal risk factors you may have, including reviewing your medical history and your family history, especially related to potential genetic issues.
  • Check that all immunizations are up to date and all prescribed and over-the-counter medications, as well as any supplements, are safe in pregnancy.
  • Develop a plan to keep mother and baby healthy before, during and after your pregnancy.

As you progress through your pregnancy, Providers at Lifeline Medical Associates will:

  • Monitor your health and your baby’s health.
  • Help you identify, prevent and treat the symptoms often associated with pregnancy, including morning sickness, leg cramps and heartburn.
  • Advise you on how to stay healthy with appropriate diet and safe, adequate exercise.
  • Provide answers to your questions about pregnancy, delivery and postpartum.

Providers at Lifeline Medical Associates will also utilize their expertise and experience to manage pregnancy-related health concerns, including those associated with high-risk pregnancies and/or chronic illnesses.

Postpartum care will include:

  • Routine postpartum care to help you with normal healing after delivery while caring for a newborn.
  • Encouraging and supporting breastfeeding.
  • Following up with you to detect and address any signs of postpartum depression.
  • Continuing to monitor medical issues that may have occurred during the pregnancy, such as high blood pressure or gestational diabetes.

Dr. Sarma was great! My appt was coded as a problem which led to a $60 insurance charge. However, I was either written the wrong prescription or given the wrong prescription by CVS. I asked for this appt to be recoded considering I was not the cause of the problem and instead needed to come in for consultation and also briefly discussed my decision to remain on the pill or not.

Pap Smear

The staff guided us on the next steps for my routine pre natal care, in terms of upcoming tests to be scheduled and the procedure to do so like genetic testing. There is a sense of relief when we speak to the doctor and any abnormalities in the reports are well communicated with us. The doctor had called me once on a Sunday as well to clear doubts on medicines which shows their dedication.

Annual Well Woman Exam

I saw Rachel McCabe and she was great. In the past I have always seen Dr. Demeo, but I’d be happy to see Rachel in the future. She was very kind and considerate, very willing to discuss findings and options. The reason for the 4-star review was some confusion at the front desk. I was asked to complete an optional questionnaire in person that I had already completed online. And I left without a prescription for an annual mammogram which I have always been given at previous appointments. I have to call the office to have one sent to me now.
